about me.
Hi! I’m Jasmine Hawamdeh, an independent artist based in Washington, D.C.
Ever since I could hold a crayon, I have been trying to figure out the messy world we live in through visual arts. I am inspired by colour, design, space and emotion. I’m an avid oil painter, doodler and I am exploring other digital means of creating art.
I’m a firm believer that artists are natural born advocates. Artists have the power to humanize statistics, tell a story on a canvas, provoke emotion and recode the mental maps that people project into the world. Art isn’t meant to change minds, instead it is meant to smash through some of the warped lenses through which we’ve been told to see through.
I’ve tried to write this “about-me” about a million times (no cap). To wrap it up, this “about-me” provided you with a snapshot of who I am right now. This isn’t all who I am, and introductions to people will never fully encompass who individuals are. We are all multidimensional and are consequences of our experiences. When we experience something new every day, we become new people, we change and we grow.
As I change and grow, my work will too and I hope you enjoy my work along the way.
